Getting closer and closer to my trip. We're so excited.....we'll be in Times Square for New Year's, since F's apartment is only a few blocks from there. If anybody happens to watch the ball drop on t.v., maybe by some amazing occurance you might see us, admist the thousands of people there. I printed out lots of coupons for area restaurants yesterday, so we can save some $$. It's so cool that he's in this apartment by Central Park now, which is right in the best part of the city, where everyone wants to go. It's so much better than going to Jersey....especially when he was staying with his mom! I'm so glad things have worked out this way. Anyway, after tommorrow, I won't be posting anywhere until I get back next week. This is really so perfect - NYC, Times Square, New Year's.....we're very pumped. Terrifficwriter - GREAT CHRISTMAS PACKAGE!!!! Thank you so much! : D (Actually, thank you for both packages.) Little did you know I had my eye on that Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Got a letter from a customer today that said, basically, "I don't really use this e-mail address anyway, so I don't see why I should have to pay for it. No one really does much with the website either."
Uhm, ever think of maybe cancelling your service?? Sheesh. Current Mood: workingCurrent Music: "Driver 8" - REM |

Cricket's necropsy results
It took a couple of weeks for the findings to be tested and analyzed, but Cricket's necropsy results are finally complete. It turned out she died of mycoplasma, a very common infection for adults rats to die from and contract (it's one of the top 2 causes of non-old age death in rats, along with cancer). The necropsy found an abscess on her lungs, and the abscess was tested and confirmed to be myco. What's bizarre about Cricket's case is that she showed no typical myco symptoms (all of which Siam has and is being treated for), which usually include respiratory distress, raspy breathing, frequent sneezing, wheezing, etc. Had she displayed symptoms, like Siam we would've taken her to the vet and gotten her antibiotics. Siam, meanwhile, seems to be doing pretty well on his own. I'm sure he'd be happier with a buddy, but he's not showing signs of distress or loneliness like other rats I've had when they lost their buddies. He's enjoyed the extra attention and treats he's getting, and since he's old and lazy mostly seems content to nap in his hammock. I am a little concerned he will get lonely when we leave him at bloodewine's parents' place without us for 10 days, but hopefully it'll be ok. Siam, if you decide to croak of old age soon, please do it in the next 48 hours or wait until we get back! Current Mood: bored |

Yeah, 3 of 5 grades in so far
Immunology Lab - 92.37% (A): Despite missing a lab report which was worth 5% of the total grade. I did really well in the class - it was probably the easiest one I had (any class in which I can get a perfect score on the final exam and still be the first person done is way too easy.) Physical Chemistry - 88% (A-): Despite missing two of the eight homework assignments. If I had managed to do them and turn them in, I would have had an out-and-out A. This was a class that one week I would be completely lost, and the next it would all suddenly make sense. 91% on the Final exam too, I'm pleased with that. Principles of Molecular Biology - 69.76% (B): He curves like mad. I really bombed the final in this course (60%), which isn't too surprising considering it covered a lot of almost pure nomenclature issues, and I hardly studied for it. It was a few hours after the P. Chem exam, and after that exam I was too burned out to study for this one. I'm happy with it though, because I personally got out of the course what I wanted to get out of it. Some nice bits of practical knowledge, an overarching general understanding, and screw the specifics & names - that's what I use notes & hyperlinks for in real life. Back-to-back Biochemistry and Immunology finals tomorrow. The car's all scrapped off, I've studied for both exams enough I feel confident on them. These'll probably be the worst grades of the bunch (Bs and/or Cs), but I think I'll pass them both. It's nice to finally deal with school instead of imploding like I did at FIT and WWU. Time for some sleep. And starting tomorrow night, I get to look forward to reading, studying and doing problems of an entire Linear Algebra (and maybe Differential Equations) textbook in the ~24 days of winter break so I can test past them next semester. Hooray (ugh.) I think it'll be enjoyable though, I've always liked math and it'll be nice to self-pace. Current Mood: chipper |
